Salvador’s eldest daughter Doña
Maria Josepha Sophia became head of the Imperial
House of Mexico following the death of her uncle Augustin in 1925.
A modest
and very religious lady she played no political role whatsoever. She
married twice and had two daughters. Following the end of the Second
World War and despite her very advanced age, the Rumanian Communist
government interned her and her second husband as class enemies of
the people. She and her second husband died under mysterious and suspicious
circumstances shortly after their internment in 1949.
Her heir
according to her will and testament and in accordance to both her
daughters’ wishes was her only grandson Don Maximiliano von
Götzen-Iturbide.
